Agent (AI assistant)
The Agent is an AI assistant that knows your channels. You tell it what you want in plain words, and it writes posts, schedules them, makes images and videos, and looks things up in your calendar. Open it with Agent in the menu.
The Agent page
- Select Channels (left). Click the channels you want the agent to work with. They are sent with every message, so it knows where to post.
- The chat (middle). Type in Write your message… and press Enter. Shift+Enter starts a new line. Use Attachments to add images or videos from your media library.
- New chat and your previous chats (right).
The agent replies in the language you write in.
What you can ask

| Plan ahead | “Plan three posts for next week about our spring menu, one a day at 9:00.” |

| Make an image or video | “Create an image of a cosy coffee shop in autumn.” |

| Move a post | “Move tomorrow’s Instagram post to Friday at 18:00.” |
| Delete a post | “Delete the draft about the summer offer.” |
| Check your numbers | “How many followers did my Facebook Page gain in the last 30 days?” |
| Reuse media | “Attach the image called spring-menu.jpg from my media library.” |
Branded posts
For a branded post, the agent writes the caption and designs a matching graphic: a headline, subtext and call to action over an AI background. The graphic is saved to your media library. The agent then opens the post editor with the caption and graphic filled in, so you can check it before scheduling. It needs a channel for that, so it asks which one if you have not picked any.
If you have set up a Brand Kit in Studio, the agent writes in its tone of voice and the images it makes follow your brand colours.
Images and videos
Images and videos the agent makes are saved to your media library, so you can use them again later. It shows a preview in the chat and asks if you want to attach it to a post. AI images and videos count towards your monthly AI image and video allowance.
Scheduling: the agent checks with you first
Before it schedules a post, the agent lists the details: text, images or videos, date, time and channel. Reply to confirm. It can also open the post editor with everything filled in, so you schedule the post yourself. While the editor is open, the chat says Opening the editor….
To write a post yourself, see Create a post.
Moving and deleting: you approve every change
The agent never moves or deletes a post on its own. When you ask, it shows a card with a short summary and two buttons:
- Approve makes the change. The card then says Done.
- Decline cancels it. The card says Declined - nothing was changed.
Nothing happens until you approve it on the card. Typing “yes” in the chat does not count.
Cards expire. If you see That confirmation is no longer valid. Ask the assistant again., ask again and approve the new card. If Postra cannot make the change, the card shows the reason instead.
You can also move or delete posts yourself in the Calendar.
Chat history
Every chat is saved. Your previous chats are listed on the right. Click one to read it and carry on where you left off. New chat starts a fresh conversation.
On a phone, tap Chat history to see your chats.
Fair-use limit
The agent has a monthly fair-use limit on questions, the same on every plan. When you reach it, the Agent page shows Monthly AI assistant limit reached in place of the chat:
You have asked the AI assistant 2,200 questions this month - the fair-use limit, the same on every plan. It resets with your next billing month.
Questions sent through ask_postra from ChatGPT, Claude or another assistant count towards the same limit.
Use Postra from ChatGPT or Claude
You can also work with Postra from your own AI assistant, such as ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor or Codex. See What MCP is and Connect your assistant.
Your own assistant cannot move or delete posts through MCP, because the Approve card exists only in Postra. Do that here or in the calendar.
