Sets and signatures

Both save you typing. A set is a saved post you can start from: its channels, their settings, and the text. A signature is a piece of text you add to posts often, such as a call to action, your website or your hashtags.

Sets and signatures belong to the workspace. Everyone in it can see, use, change and delete them. You manage both in Settings, on the Sets and Signatures tabs.

Sets

Make a set

  1. Open Settings, then the Sets tab.
  2. Click Add a set. The post editor opens.
  3. Pick the channels, write the text, add any pictures and fill in the channel settings, just as for a post. See Writing a post.
  4. Click Save Set. It works once at least one channel is picked.
  5. Under Set name, type a name and click Save. You see Set saved.

Saving a set publishes nothing. It only keeps the post for later.

If no channel is connected yet, Add a set tells you: Connect a channel first: a set is a post for your channels. See Channels.

Start a post from a set

When your workspace has at least one set, clicking Create Post, or a free time on the calendar, first opens Select a Set.

Everything you change in the editor changes only this post. The set stays as it was.

Change or delete a set

The Sets tab lists your sets by name, with a count next to the title.

Signatures

Add a signature

  1. Open Settings, then the Signatures tab.
  2. Click Add a signature.
  3. Write it in the box (Write your signature…).
  4. Under Auto add signature?, choose No or Yes. See below.
  5. Click Save. You see Signature added.

The list shows the start of each signature under Content, and Yes or No under Auto Add?. Use Edit to change one and Delete to remove it.

Add a signature to every new post

Set Auto add signature? to Yes, and Postra puts that signature into every new post you start with Create Post or from the calendar. The text box opens with an empty first line for you to write on, and the signature below it.

Only one signature can be added on its own. Setting another one to Yes switches the previous one to No.

The signature is not added when you start from a set, because the set brings its own text.

Insert a signature while you write

  1. In the editor, click Add Signature in the toolbar under the text. Hover over the icons to find it.
  2. The Add Signature window lists your signatures. Click Use Signature next to the one you want.
  3. Postra adds it to your text where your cursor is.
  4. Close the window to go back to your post.

You can also add, edit and delete signatures in this window, without leaving the editor.

For the rest of the editor, see Writing a post.
