Auto Post

Auto Post watches your blog’s RSS feed. When you publish a new article, Postra writes a post about it, adds a link to the article and sends it to the channels you choose.

Open Auto Post in the menu on the left. You can also manage your feeds in Settings, on the Auto Post tab.

Auto Post is available if your plan includes it. If it does not, the page explains the feature and offers See plans. Next to Add an autopost, Postra shows how many of your plan’s RSS feeds you are using. When you reach the limit, the button is greyed out.

Add a feed

  1. Click Add an autopost.
  2. Fill in the form (see below).
  3. Click Send Test. Postra reads the feed and shows RSS valid! or Could not use this RSS feed. The test does not publish anything.
  4. When the test passes, Save appears. Click it. You see Autopost added successfully.

The feed address must be a public https:// link to an RSS feed with at least one article. If you change the URL later, click Send Test again before you save.

The form

Field What it does
Title A name for the feed.
URL The address of your RSS feed.
When should we post it? Post on the next available slot schedules the post at your next free posting time. Post Immediately publishes it as soon as Postra finds the article.
Autogenerate content Yes: AI writes the post from the article. No: you write one text, used for every article.
Generate Picture? Yes adds a picture to each post.
Integrations All integrations posts to every channel. Specific integrations lets you click the channels you want. Pick at least one.
Should we sync the current last post? Yes posts the newest article already in the feed at the first check. No waits for articles that appear after you save.

When AI writes the post

With Autogenerate content set to Yes, two more fields appear:

Postra reads the article and writes a version for each platform: a longer post for LinkedIn, a short one for X, a caption with hashtags for Instagram, and a few friendly sentences for Facebook. Other channels get a short general post. The posts are in the article’s language. Postra adds the link to the article at the end.

When you write the text yourself

With Autogenerate content set to No, a Post content box appears. Postra posts this text for every new article, followed by the article’s link.

Pictures

With Generate Picture? set to Yes, Postra first uses the article’s own preview image, if it has one. If not, AI creates a picture, which uses your image credits. When your image credits run out, the post goes out without a picture. A notification under the bell (Notifications) says the post went out without a picture: your image credits for this billing cycle are used up.

What happens to new articles

Scheduled posts appear on your Calendar like any other post, and you can change or delete them before they go out.
