Media, Studio and AI

You add pictures and videos with the buttons under the text in the Create Post window. For the rest of that window, see Writing a post.

Add media to a post

Click Insert Media. The Media Library window opens with everything you have uploaded.

  1. Click the files you want. Each one gets a number, which is its order in the post.
  2. To add a new file, click Upload, or drag files into the window.
  3. Click Add selected media.

You can also drag files straight onto the text box, or paste a picture into it.

The files show as thumbnails under the text. Drag a thumbnail’s handle to reorder it, or click its cross to remove it.

Hover over a thumbnail and click the settings icon to open Media Settings:

The small pencil on a picture thumbnail opens it in Studio, so you can change the design.

File types and size limits

Type Formats Largest file
Pictures PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP 30 MB
Videos MP4 1 GB

One upload can be up to 1 GB in total. If a file has the wrong type or is too big, Postra tells you and does not upload it.

AI Image

If your plan includes AI, the toolbar has an AI Image button.

  1. Click AI Image. The Generate AI Image window shows your image credits left.
  2. Under Prompt, describe the picture.
  3. Pick a Style, for example Realistic, Cartoon, Watercolor, Minimalist or Pop Art.
  4. Click Generate. The picture is added to the post when it is ready.

AI Video

If your plan includes AI, the toolbar also has AI Video. It is not shown on phones.

  1. Click AI Video. The window shows how many video credits you have left.
  2. If there is more than one kind of video, choose one.
  3. Choose Vertical (Stories, Reels) or Horizontal (Normal Post).
  4. Fill in the fields and click Generate. The video is added to the post when ready.

Studio

Studio is where you make graphics and short videos. Open it from Studio in the main menu, or with the Studio button in the Create Post window. It needs a laptop or desktop screen.

Studio has two tabs, Graphics and Video. The ? button opens help in a new tab.

Graphics

The tools sit on the left. Hover over each one to see its name:

The Format bar under the canvas sets the size: IG Feed (4:5), IG Square (1:1), IG Story (9:16), FB Feed (1:1), LinkedIn (1:1), TikTok (9:16) or X Post (16:9). The pixel size shows on the right.

Carousel mode makes a post with several slides, up to 10. Your current design becomes Slide 1. Then:

The Export menu has Save to library, Save as template, Download PNG and All formats. All formats makes the design in all seven sizes at once. You can then Download all (ZIP). When you opened Studio from the Create Post window, you can also Add all to post.

Use in Post finishes the design. From the Create Post window, it adds the design to that post. From the Studio page, it starts a new post with it. In carousel mode the button reads Export 3 slides, with your number of slides.

Video

The Video tab starts with What do you want to make? Each goal opens one tool. The same tools are also tabs at the top:

Goal Tab What it does
Photos → Reels Photos → video Turns a few photos into a video with motion
Trim a video Trim Cuts a clip to the right length
Add captions AI Captions Writes subtitles from the speech and burns them in
Text on video Text Puts your message on the video in your brand style
Find stock B-roll Stock B-roll Free clips from Pixabay. Import saves one to your library
Resize for platforms Formats Reframes one clip for IG Reel / TikTok / Story (9:16), IG Feed (1:1) and YouTube / X (16:9)

To edit your own clip, choose From disk (MP4, WebM or MOV, up to 200 MB) or From library.

When a video is ready, Postra saves it to your media library. If you opened Studio from the Create Post window, the video goes straight into the post. On the Studio page, click Use in post to start a post with it, or Keep working. After a trim you can also click Save to library.

The Media page

Media in the main menu shows every picture and video you have uploaded or made.

Hover over a file for its buttons: the expand icon shows it full size, Edit in Studio opens a picture in Studio, and the red icon deletes it. Postra asks before it deletes.
