Writing a post

You write every post in the Create Post window. Open it with Create Post on the calendar. New to Postra? Start with Your first post.

You write on the left. On the right, Post Preview shows how the post will look.

Choose channels

At the top are the pictures of your connected channels. Click one to add that channel to the post, and click again to remove it. Selected channels are in colour.

If your channels are grouped by customer, Select Customer picks all of one customer’s channels at once.

To connect more channels, see Channels.

One text for every channel, or one per channel

Under the channel pictures there is a row of small icons: a globe, then one icon per selected channel.

Back to global, under the text, throws away that channel’s own text. Postra asks first, because you cannot undo it.

The editor toolbar

Under the text box is a row of buttons. Hover over an icon to see its name.

You can also drag pictures and MP4 videos onto the text box, or paste a picture into it.

Character counter

At the right end of the toolbar is a counter, for example 120/280. On the global tab, hover over it to see every channel. It turns red when a channel is over its limit, or when the post has no text and no picture.

Channel Limit
X 280 (4,000 for a verified account)
Bluesky 300
Threads, Mastodon 500
Discord 1,980
TikTok 2,000
Instagram 2,200
LinkedIn 3,000
Telegram 4,096
YouTube 5,000
Facebook 63,206

On X and Mastodon every link counts as 23 characters, as it does on those platforms.

AI help while you write

When the text is at least 10 characters long, a row of AI buttons appears under it.

A rewrite opens as a preview first. Switch between Changes and New text, then click Apply. Retry writes another version. After you apply, Restore original brings your own text back.

🎯 Check tone gives a Brand voice score out of 100 and a short tip, compared with your recent posts and the tone in your Brand Kit.

On the global tab with two or more channels, Adapt to each channel writes a separate version for every channel at once. Channels you already edited by hand stay as they are.

Threads and comments

Under the last part of the post there is a button to add another part:

YouTube and TikTok tabs have no such button. If a channel has not given Postra permission to post comments, the global tab lists it under Comments won’t be published on:. The post itself still goes out.

Next to each part are arrows to move it and a bin to remove it. The clock icon is Delay comment: pick from 1m to 2h, or type minutes and click Set.

Channel settings

On a channel tab, a blue bar named after the channel (for example My Page Settings) opens its settings. They depend on the platform. Two examples:

If a setting is missing when you save, Postra says Please fix your settings and opens the panel for you.

Date, repeat and tags

Save, schedule or post now

Until you pick a channel, the main button reads Check the circles above.

Before scheduling, Postra checks every channel: the post needs at least one character or one picture, must fit the limit, and needs its settings filled in. If something is wrong, it takes you to the problem.

Edit or delete a scheduled post

Click the post in the calendar. It opens in the same window, with the same channels.

Closing the window without saving loses your changes, so Postra asks first.
