Posting times
Every channel has a list of posting times: the times of day you usually like to post on it. In the app they are called time slots.
Postra uses them in three places:
- When you click Create Post or Duplicate Post, the editor opens at the next free posting time.
- Auto Post can schedule new articles at the next free posting time.
- Day view on the calendar shows them as rows.
A new channel starts with three posting times. Change them to suit your audience.
Edit a channel’s posting times
- On the Calendar page, click the three dots next to the channel.
- Choose Edit Time Slots. The Time Table Slots window opens.
- Under Add Time Slot, pick the Hour (00 to 23) and the Minutes.
- Click Add. The time joins the list under Scheduled Times, in order.
- Repeat for every time you want.
- Click Save Changes.
To remove a time, click the bin next to it and confirm. On a computer, the bin shows when you hover over the time. On a phone, it is always visible.
Nothing is saved until you click Save Changes. If you close the window before that, Postra asks you to confirm, and your changes are lost.
A posting time keeps the time zone it was added in, so 09:00 stays 09:00 when the clocks go forward or back. The calendar shows it in your device’s time zone. See Calendar.
How Postra picks the next free time
A posting time is free when it is still in the future and no post in your workspace is already set for that exact time. Postra looks at today first, then the following days, and takes the earliest free time.
Which posting times it looks at depends on where you start:
| You click | Posting times used |
|---|---|
| Create Post on the calendar | Every channel’s |
| Create Post in a channel’s menu | That channel’s only |
| Duplicate Post on a post | Every channel’s |
| Post on the next available slot in Auto Post | Every channel’s |
The time Postra fills in is only a suggestion. In the editor, click the date button to pick another day and time. See Your first post and Writing a post.
Disabled channels do not count: their posting times are not used.
Example
Your Facebook Page has posting times at 09:00 and 18:00. Today at 10:00 you click Create Post in its menu. 09:00 has passed, so Postra suggests 18:00 today. If any post in your workspace is already set for 18:00 today, it suggests 09:00 tomorrow.
Posting times in Day view
Switch the calendar to Day. Each row is one time: your channels’ posting times, together with the times of posts planned that day. Rows are in time order. A line marks the current time, just before the next row that has not happened yet.
Click an empty part of a future row to start a post at that time. See Calendar for more on the views.
