Your first post
This page takes you from signing in to a post waiting on your calendar.
1. Sign in
- Open app.postra.co.uk.
- Enter your email and password and click Sign in.
Postra opens on Calendar. If your workspace has no plan yet, Postra asks you to choose one first.
2. Connect a channel
A channel is one account on one platform, such as your Facebook Page.
- On Calendar, click Add Channel in the Channels panel.
- Click the platform you want. A greyed-out tile marked Soon cannot be connected yet. A padlock means your plan does not include that platform.
- Sign in to the platform and allow Postra access. For Facebook and Instagram, Postra first shows a short checklist of what the platform needs. Click Done - continue when you are ready.
- Back in Postra, the channel appears under Channels. Some platforms ask one more question first, such as which Facebook Page to use.
Details for each platform are on Channels.
Connecting a client’s account? Click the button next to Add Channel, then pick the platform. Postra copies an invite link for you to send to your client. The link works for one hour.
3. Open the composer
Click Create Post. The button appears once you have at least one channel.
You can also click an empty time on the calendar. A + shows when you hover over it.
4. Pick your channels
The round pictures at the top of the composer are your channels. Click each one you want this post to go to. Until you pick one, the main button at the bottom reads Check the circles above.
5. Write the post
Type your post in the editor. What you write here goes to every channel you picked. Post Preview on the right shows how it will look.
To change the post for one channel only:
- In the row of pictures just above the editor, click that channel.
- Click Edit content and make your changes.
- To go back to one text for every channel, click Back to global.
Some channels need extra details. YouTube, for example, needs a video title. Click the channel in that row and open the Settings bar under the editor, which shows the channel’s name.
More on the editor is in the composer guide.
6. Add an image or video
Use the buttons under the editor:
- Insert Media opens your Media Library. Click Upload to add files from your computer, select what you need and click Add selected media.
- You can also drag files straight onto the editor.
- Studio lets you design a graphic and add it to the post. It works on a laptop or desktop.
- AI Image and AI Video make media from a short description. These depend on your plan.
More on media and AI is in Media and AI.
7. Choose the date and time
The date button at the bottom shows when the post will go out. Postra fills in your next free slot for you.
To change it, click the date, pick a day, set the time under Pick time and click Close.
8. Add it to the calendar
Click Add to Calendar. The post is now scheduled and Postra publishes it at the time you chose.
You have two other choices:
- Save as draft keeps the post without scheduling it.
- Post now publishes straight away. It appears when you hover over Add to Calendar.
Where to find your post
Your post is on Calendar at the time you chose. Use Day, Week and Month to change the view, or switch to the list view. Drafts start with Draft:.
Click a scheduled post to open it. Make your changes and click Update. For a draft, the button reads Schedule.
When the post goes out, the bell in the top bar shows a notification. If a platform refuses the post, you get a notification there too. See Troubleshooting for what to do next.
